Amanda's Fund

On September 11, 2001 Amanda was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent successful surgery and is cancer free. Breast cancer is a generational disease in her family as both her grandmother and her mother had breast cancer and died in their 40’s from the disease. In 2007, the Governor signed P.A. 134 creating “Amanda’s Fund” a Michigan Income Tax return check-off in Amanda’s name. In 2009, $75,000 was donated by Michigan citizens to Amanda’s Fund. The fund helps low income women throughout Michigan obtain mammograms and other breast cancer screenings.
